"State government does not happen in a marble building with a golden dome, on a hill in a faraway city. State government happens right here, in our community."
I have made it a central tenet of my tenure as your state representative to be accessible, approachable, and effective. With life changed so much because of the pandemic, my team is working to meet your needs. Much of this has been responding to constituent services, particularly the great demand around unemployment insurance and providing the most up-to-date information on COVID response.
At the same time, we pivoted to State House remote work. This makes for a much better commute but certainly changes how we do our legislative and budgetary work. I’m happy to say that Team Tricia has adapted well and we find ourselves ever more fully engaged at both the State House and locally.
I wake up each day with the needs of the people of Pittsfield on my mind. How do we help protect businesses in these most challenging times? How do we get people back to work or support them while they are unemployed. How do we address food insecurity? How do we best support our schools and families? How do we address racial and income disparities that create barriers to advancement?
These are important challenges facing us today. I look forward to continuing to lead on these issues, and on other issues facing our city and our Commonwealth.
